"If none of us ever read a book that was 'dangerous,' had a friend who was 'different' or joined an organization that advocated 'change,' we would all be just the kind of people Joe McCarthy wants. Whose fault is that? Not really [McCarthy's]. He didn't create this situation of fear. He merely exploited it, and rather successfully."

—Edward R (oscoe) Murrow (1908-65) American news anchor, broadcast journalist

Foundation Center logoCarbondale Public Library’s Center for Effective Nonprofits (CEN) is now available to aid your nonprofit organization. Thanks to the WK Kellogg Foundation for providing the grant to make this center possible. We are one of five libraries in southern Illinois involved with this project designed to aid nonprofits in their day to day activities. Carbondale Public Library is a Cooperating Collection of the Foundation Center (http://fdncenter.org).

Come in and check out our new collection of books, CDs, videotapes and more. We are also able to offer electronic and online resources.
