Welcome to Project Next Generation (PNG)

at the Carbondale Public Library.

OVERVIEW

Project Next Generation (PNG) is offered to 5th, 6th, 7th, or 8th grade students, with priority given to Carbondale Public Library card holders. Participants will have the opportunity to meet new friends and develop new interests. Mentors work with students to develop technological skills and assist in projects. Funding for this grant was awarded by the Illinois State Library, a Department of the Office of Secretary of State, using funds provided by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services, under the federal Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA).

We are offering workshops, not classes, where all the resources are provided to learn a given topic. Participants are treated as young adults in our program and encouraged to make decisions for themselves according to how much, or how little, they would like to learn. Mentors are always on hand to answer a question or help with a problem.

If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, please contact Wendy Schoof, PNG Coordinator, at wschoof@shawls.lib.il.us.

HOW DO I SIGN UP

Participant and Guardian need to complete an application and email to Wendy Schoof at wschoof@shawls.lib.il.us or print and return it to the Carbondale Public Library. Being that there are a limited number of participants, you will be contacted by email or phone to let you know which workshop(s) you will be able to participate in.
