Art Reception: Weaving and Hand Dye Hand Made
Currently on exhibit: "Weaving and Hand Dye Hand Made Show" by Karl and Saiko Lanier displayed July 1st-August 15th.
Opening reception: July 9, 2014, 6-7:30pm
Karl and Saiko Lanier, graduates of Southern Illinois University’s Art Department, have collaborated for more than 16 years in a weaving and crafts partnership. Karl dyes yarn and fabric for weaving scarves, shawls and yardage for Saiko to finish or use to make bags or purses of her own design. They have shown their work at art and craft shows, galleries in several states and Japan and regularly exhibit at the Carbondale Farmers Market.
Local and regional artists may now apply to exhibit their works at the Carbondale Public Library. Artwork will be hung on the ramps leading to the upper and lower floors of the library. Library staff will sell artwork and collect a small commission to be donated to the library. Exhibits will last from six to eight weeks. Art organizations and individual artists are encouraged to apply. Interested artists can apply by filling out the CPL Art Exhibit Application, Agreement and Information form available on our website or at the library circulation desk.
