Lending of Examination Material
PROCEDURE REGARDING THE LOAN OF EXAMINATION MATERIALS CATALOGED IN THE DEWEY DECIMAL CLASSIFICATION NUMBER 371
Due to the fact that a significant number of the exam materials cataloged in 371 are not returned to the library after being checked out, the Carbondale Public Library requires all patrons to pay a deposit before exam books can be checked out.
The deposit will be refunded provided the material is returned within 42 days from the day it was checked out. The deposit will be forfeited if the material is returned after the item has been declared "LOST." Items go into LOST status when they are 21 days overdue. Forfeiture of the deposit does not substitute for an overdue fine. Overdue fines will also be levied and collected per library policy.
Exam materials will circulate for three weeks and will not be renewed.
Copies of many of the exam books are also available in the Reference collection, and can be used on site without paying the deposit. Reference copies do not circulate outside the library.
The deposit is currently set at $10 per item.
