The Friends sponsor a used book sale. Money made from the book sales is used to sponsor library programs, such as the summer reading program for children, Club Read  for adults and young adults, and ongoing support for the library's audiobook collection.


The Friends board meets on the second Thursday of each month. For more information, please call (618) 457-0354. The annual membership meeting is held during National Library Week each April.

The Friends membership year starts during National Library Week (at our annual meeting) in April. If you are not now a member, obtain a copy of the latest newsletter and fill out the membership form. You may leave the form and dues with staff at the Circulation desk or mail it to Friends of the Carbondale Public Library, 405 West Main Street, Carbondale, IL 62901-2995.
